This is a brand-new re-issue of the classic(1938) British film starring Sabu,Roger Livesy,Raymond Massey and Valerie Hobson. THE DRUM centres on the unrest and inter-tribal warfare on the North-West frontier of India during the days of the British Raj. LIVESEY plays Captain Carruthers who is summoned to Tokot,where the Khan suspects his brother,Prince Ghul(MASSEY) is plotting to overthrow him. The Khan signs a treaty with Carruthers,ensuring British protection for his country and his son,Prince Azim(SABU). Carruthers and the Prince build up a warm relationship and he encourages a frienship between Azim and one of his young drummer boys,Bill Holder(DESMOND TESTER). Bill teaches the Prince a special drum signal which is to prove invaluable as once Carruthers leaves Tokot,the evil Prince Ghul starts weaving a web of destruction. Filmed in Technicolour and including local footage shot in Chitral,India,THE DRUM is visually stunning and the battle scenes exciting and authentic. The producer (ALEXANDER KORDA) hired regular British and Indian troops. Imported in Region 1 NTSC format. It will play on your North American DVD player. S&H $2.50 in the US--$3.50 into Canada,.
