This is a reproduction on card stock of the Original 1927 Lobby Card
that was used in the movie theatres
The movie was released originally in New York City August 1927
The movie was released originally in North America January 1929

Clara Bow ... Mary Preston
Charles 'Buddy' Rogers ... Jack Powell
Richard Arlen ... David Armstrong
Jobyna Ralston ... Sylvia Lewis
El Brendel ... Herman Schwimpf
Richard Tucker ... Air Commander

Jack works on his sports car and dreams of flying
His neighbor Mary is in love with him but he
seems not to notice, having been smitten by the
fair Sylvia, but he can't see that Sylvia has
eyes only for David
The distant drums of war beckon, and Jack and
David train to be pilots in the
American Expeditionary Corp
Their rivalry soon evolves into camaraderie as
they do aerial battle with the Germans in the
skies over France
Meanwhile Mary has joined the
Women's Motor Corp and despairs that Jack
doesn't notice her

Wings (1927) was awarded Best Production ( First Acadamey Award For Best Picture )
but was called Best Production at the time and in 1928 the award was re-named
Best Picture Oscar
It is also the only silent film to ever have won an academy award for Best Picture
It is also the only movie to win an Academy Award for Engineering Effects
The entire score was written, composed, and recorded using a Wurlitzer Pipe Organ
Director William A. Wellman's wife Margery Chapin and daughter Gloria Wellman
play the peasant mother and daughter whose house gets crashed into toward
the end of the film
One of the army pilots helping out on the shoot crashed his plane and was fatal
but the Army held the pilot, not the director, responsible
They used the Army's Second Division stationed in Corpus Christi, Texas as extras
Costume Designer Edith Head's first film
