When I was just a little one,

my feet helped me to walk.

And then not too long after that,

my mouth taught me to talk.

My feet would take me everywhere

from room to room and more.

I love the feel of muddy toes;

as I ran across your floor.

Even though my dirty footprints

always left a mess behind;

I could smile and you'd smile back at me,

and you never seemed to mind.

As I grow tall my footprints fade,

no more messes you'll have to see.

But one thing that will never disappear,

Is the love you have given me.
