This software uses a variety
of methods to review, teach, and reinforce readiness skills. The goal is to
answer all of the questions correctly during each game. Correct answers are
rewarded by access to the activity centers. The more questions answered
correctly, the more pieces the child earns to play with in the activity
centers. A player can exit at any time.
1. To Start Colors,
Shapes & More:
When the software begins, type your name
and click the flashing OK button. Click a button along the left side of the
screen to select the type of questions. You can change question groups at
any time by clicking a different button.
2. Numbers:
Click the green button on the left side
of the screen with the butterfly icon to practice numbers and counting. One
type of activity asks you to move a certain number of objects. To move a
picture, click on it to pick it up. Then move it to the correct place and
click again. Other activities ask you to identify numbers by clicking on
them. Some activities show a number and you must click on the group of
objects that matches the number. Other activities ask you to count by
clicking on objects one at a time.
3. Shapes:
Click the red button on the left side of
the screen with the shapes icon to practice shapes. To complete some of the
activities, click on the shapes with the same name. The shapes may not be
identical (they will be different colors, textures, sides, etc.). Other
activities require you to move matching shapes to a certain area. To move a
shape, click on it to pick it up. Then move it to the correct place and
click again. Some activities ask you to identify shapes. Click a shape to
select it.
4. Colors:
Click the blue button on the left side of
the screen with the rainbow icon to practice colors. To complete the
activities, you must click, move or color pictures as instructed by the
audio directions. To move a picture, click on it to pick it up. Then move it
to the correct place and click again. To color a picture, use the paintbrush
to click on a color at the top of the screen. Move the brush to the picture
and click to color it.
5. Classifying and Words:
Click the yellow button on the left side
of the screen with the cat icon to practice classifying, rhyming words,
positional words, and size differentiation. Listen to the audio directions,
and then click the picture that belongs, doesn’t belong, is the same, is
different, rhymes, is the same size, or is a different size. Other
activities ask you to move pictures to a certain place, relative to another
picture. To move a picture, click on it to pick it up. Then move it to the
correct place and click again.
6. Instant Feedback:
The program automatically tells the
player if the answer was correct or incorrect. In addition to audio
responses, beads along the right side of the play area will drop to track
each correct answer. If an answer is incorrect the program will flash the
correct answer.
7. Help:
Click the “?” button to hear how to play
the activity on each screen.
8. Completing Colors,
Shapes & More:
To exit the program, click the purple
arrow located in the lower left hand corner of the screen.
How high can you count? Enter the Numbers
Activity Center by clicking the green button on the right side of the
screen. In the activity center the buttons at the side of the screen can
make the pictures on the play area move, as well as play music, change
backgrounds, and remove pictures. If you don’t have many pictures in the
spaces at the bottom of the screen you will need to click on the green arrow
and solve more numbers questions. You can earn more colors by answering the
activities correctly. Click on a picture at the bottom of the screen to move
it into the play area. Click the top green button to make the pictures move.
2. Shapes Stack-up:
Let’s stack some shapes! Enter the Shapes
Stack-up Activity Center by clicking the red button on the right side of the
screen. In the activity center the buttons at the side of the screen allow
you to change scenes and colors, play music, turn everything upside down and
remove all the shapes with a wrecking ball. If you don’t have many shapes in
the spaces at the bottom of the screen, you can click the red arrow and
solve more shape questions. You can earn more shapes by answering the
activities correctly. Click a shape at the bottom of the screen to select
it, and then place it in the play area. You can use the shapes as building
blocks. Try balancing the shapes on top of one another. Take out one of the
bottom blocks to see what happens! You can also rotate the shapes. Click a
shape to select it, move it to the play area and press any key to rotate it.
Click again to drop the shape.
3. Super Sandbox:
Let’s make a sand painting! Enter the
Sand Painting Activity Center by clicking the blue button on the right side
of the screen. In the activity center the buttons at the side of the screen
let you pour, drill, shovel and shake the sand. If you want to remove all of
the sand, click the plug at the bottom of the play area. If you don’t have
many colors in the spaces at the bottom of the screen, you will need to
click the blue arrow and solve more color questions. You can earn more
colors by answering the activities correctly. Use the button with the faucet
to pour the sand. Click your mouse, and then move it back and forth across
the screen to pour the sand. Pick a new color by clicking on one of the
colors at the bottom of the screen.
4. Mix & Match Music:
This is a mix-n-match music maker! Enter
the Word Play Activity Center by clicking the yellow button on the right
side of the screen. In the activity center the buttons at the side of the
screen let you turn on the music maker. The top button plays the music. The
three buttons under it let you change the type of music that is played. The
bottom button removes all of the pictures so you can make more music. If you
don’t have many pictures in the spaces at the bottom of the screen you will
need to click on the yellow arrow and solve more word questions. You can
earn more colors by answering the activities correctly. To make a song,
click on a picture at the bottom of the screen. It will move to the purple
rectangle. Use as many pictures as you can to make your song. When you’re
ready to play your song, click the top yellow button.
