Yllow hard paper covers, white cloth spine cover, green title on spine. Unclipped, mylar protected dust jacket with little wear. 346 pages with index, bibliography & notes. Illustrated with b/w photographs & drawings. They were known as the Ascendancy, the dashing aristocratic elite that controlled Irish politics and society at the end of the eighteenth century
2- “Modern Ireland, 1600-1972. By R.F. Foster. Pub: London, Allen Lane, 1988. 1st edition, 5th printing. Black cloth hard covers, silver title on spine. Unclipped, mylar protected dust jacket with little wear. 688 pages with index, bibliography & notes. Illustrated with b/w maps. This book of the history of modern Ireland begins in 1600, with the end of the Elizabethan wars and the establishment of the Ulster plantation, and ends in 1972, the year in which the Republic joined the EEC and the Stormont parliament in Northern Ireland was suspended.
