GORGEOUS VASELINE OPALESCENT JOCKEY CLUB GOOD LUCK BOWL

This beautiful fancy crimped edge fruit bowl is absolutely breath taking. Measuring 4" tall 9" in diameter and its footed base is 5" in diameter. It has a rich luxurious band of creamy opalescence along the crimped ruffle.

It has been told that these bowls were originally used as trophies at equestrian events. The jockey's name replaced the words "Good Luck" until a perfume company wanted to use the bowl as a promotional piece in 1910.

Uranium Oxide has been added to the piece making it explode into a bright liquid Neon Glow.

The intricate details are magnificient. The inside of the bowls has a HORSE SHOE in the center along with the "jockey whip" across it. Above this are the words"GOOD LUCK".The assortment of flowers...daiseys and dogwood blossoms as well as shaffs of wheat with a stippled finish.

The outside of the bowl is in the Grape & Leaf" pattern. Also if you look closely you can see the "Stylized Frog". It was used by the glass distributor Levay.

Made by Mosser Glass Co of Cambridge, Ohio, for Rosso Glass. There were approximately 386 pieces that were made in 8 totally different shapes.

Originally this mould was owned by Northwood Glass, then purchased by Westmoreland Glass after Northwood's disasterous fire. Levay purchased the mould when Westmoreland Glass closed due to financial problems.

This bowl has wonderful color that catches the natural light and will look lovely on your table or on display in your china cabinet.

It is in excellent condition with no chips, dings or repairs.
