This massive glaive-like weapon measures over 5 feet long! It features a mammoth 21 1/4" carbon steel blade. The blade edge is sharp! This weapon disassembles into two pieces. The long shaft unscrews, transforming the Naginata into two weapons - a short staff and a mighty war sword. A custom wooden blade cover with an intricate dragon design is included with this piece. Challenge your mind, body and spirit with this classic martial arts weapon. This item is new and securely packaged. Note the excellent craftsmanship and superb detail in the pictures below.

The Naginata is a Japanese spear with a sword-like blade curved back near the point. The blade widens towards the tip. The Japanese learned from the Mongols the value of longer weapons. Due to its light weight and height, the Naginata became the weapon of choice for battle against horsemen as well as warriors on foot wielding swords. The Naginata was developed in the 9th century from an agricultural implement.
