Measuring
11¼" x 9" (approx) this volume is bound in red cloth.
The
boards and spine have the usual shelf-wear for a book of this age
with some rubbing to the extremities, typical corner bumping and marking.
The
binding is firm and the text block is tight but the block is
starting to work loose of the binding - it is currently held by
the chords but will need to be handled with respect.
The
sub-title of this work is "Complete with large scale, folding
Air-View map of the Western front" - this map would have been
kept in the 'envelope' affixed to the inner rear board but the map
is missing. There is a replacement fold-out map
however; This colour map was published by the
Daily Express in 1940 and it is folded into 16 sections
(30"x40"). There are
different colours for " Belligerent " and " Neutral
Countries " and a small chart indicates war strengths.
The
paper at the gutter of the front and rear inner hinges has split
but the text block is firmly held by the chords.
There
are xxx paginated pages and the page edges are gilt. and
pastedowns are marbled.
the pages are generally
clean with the occasional spot and smudge occasional spotting and smudging.

All
the maps are in super condition. |

the maps are political or military in nature, showing the orientation
of world powers in 1940.
