This is a vintage paperback book that was printed in the USA as a Cardinal Edition for Pocket Books. This is from the FIRST EDITION PRINTING in September 1961. There is a cover price of 50 cents.

NOTE: The eBay stock info (above the photos) lists the publication year as 1990. That is the date of the Pocket Books reissue of this title. The book for sale is the original Pocket Books edition printed in 1961.

This is a novelization of the popular Broadway musical and movie, West Side Story. This is not the script. It does not include the song lyrics. This is a very rare book that has been out-of-print for years.

Now a spectacular motion picture produced by Robert Wise for Mirisch Pictures and released through United Artists, directed by Robert Wise and Jerome Robbins, and starring NATALIE WOOD. Filmed in Panavision(R) 70 / Technicolor(R) from a screenplay by Ernest Lehman based on the original Broadway production. Book by Arthur Laurents, music by Leonard Bernstein, lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, choreography by Jerome Robbins.

CONDITION:

    COVER - There are a few mild surface dents. The corners have rounded a little.

    SPINE - There is a faint crease. The book leans toward the front cover. The covers open more than they should, but they are still securely attached. The rest of the spine is tight and secure.

    PAGES - The pages are yellowing around the edges. A few pages have a mild stain on the top edge - it could be uneven yellowing, but it might be an old liquid stain. It's hard to tell; the paper is not wrinkled from it. One page has a small tear (1/4") on the outer edge. Some pages have rounded corners. Most of the page corners are still sharp.

    This book was read a few times, but it is in very good condition. It does not look 48 years old. This has been boxed away almost airtight for at least 25 years (probably longer). This will make a great addition to any collection and a nice gift.

A note to international bidders -
    People have asked why my international shipping rates are so high. The reason is simple. I purchase my postage for eBay auctions online through PayPal. The U.S. post office does not offer the cheaper First-Class International shipping rate online. The least expensive international shipping rate USPS offers online is Priority Mail International.
