SIGNED 8x10 photo - comedy actor EDDIE BRACKEN c1945

Autographed 8x10" matte photo - comedy actor EDDIE BRACKEN. Undated - c.1945. Signed on the photo in blue-black ink and inscribed: "Best Wishes to Marjie, Eddie Bracken" and including a decorative flourish. Gradations to the ink and uneven edges to the strokes are clearly visible.

Bracken (1915-2002) got his start as a child in vaudeville and, soon went over to film, but didn't get his first big break until the 1940 film adaptation of Too Many Girls, which Bracken had done on Broadway. He rose to stardom with The Miracle of Morgan's Creek (with Betty Hutton) and Hail the Conquering Hero and did many films, mostly comedies and musicals, such as Hold That Blonde (1945) and Summer Stock (1950). He had his own radio sho in the 1940's also. By the mid-50's, Bracken returned to Broadway to good acclaim. In his late life, he did character roles in comedy films, notably National Lampoon's Vacation (as Roy Walley), Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, and Baby's Day Out. He has two stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame (for film and radio). Though undated, this photo almost certainly dates from the height of Bracken's film career in the mid-1940's.

CONDITION: Very Good. Minor wear to edges and minor yellowing. Very small yellowing spot at the mid left (opposite Bracken's jawline - does not detract). The back is clean and unmarked with slight yellowing. Collectible condition.
