8 SYMBOLS GAU TIBET

A beautiful large Tibetan gau or prayer box in silver plated hammered copper, with the eight sacred symbols of Tibetan Buddhism (umbrella, fish, vase, lotus, conch, endless knot, standard and wheel), a triple gem at the top & a Guardian Chhepphu at the bottom.. The back comes off & inside are old prayer flags, & a clay statue of The Buddha behind a glass window. Tibetan pilgrims carry these as a portable shrine, & on the back is a double dorje.
