The United States Virgin Islands commemorative quarter is the fifth coin in the 2009 District of Columbia and U.S. Territories Quarters Program.  The coin, scheduled to enter into circulation September 28, has an outline of the territory's three major islands on its reverse (tails side).  The design also features the Yellow Breast or Bananaquit, the territory's official bird; the Yellow Cedar or Yellow Elder, the official flower; and a Tyre Palm Tree.  Inscriptions on the coin include U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS and United in Pride and Hope, the territory's official motto.
