I am pleased to present for sale this splendid American Oak Victorian Bookcase with Fancy Mirrored Gallery circa 1890's. If you are a lover of beautiful Victorian oak you will surely love this lovely piece. The measurements of this bookcase are a total height of 70 1/4 inches from the floor to the top of the gallery, 60 1/23 inches from the floor to the top of the bookcase (not including the gallery), the total width is 43 inches and the outside depth is 14 1/4 inches. On the inside the shelves (adjustable ) measure 39 inches long by 10 1/8 inches in depth, and this piece weighs approximately 155 lbs. This piece offers wonderful Victorian Charm with its details, from the fancy arched gallery with the original oval beveled mirror ( mirror measures 8 1/8 inches by 5 1/4 inches) and applied scroll carvings, to the decorative spindles that accent the side display shelves, to the detailed egg and dart carvings that adorn the top and sides of the bookcase. This piece offers fantastic display opportunities with the adjustable shelves (the adjustable metal pegs each have patd March 16, 97,.....thats 1897) and glass doors to display books, china or collectibles. There is a lock present but no key, and the two bottom drawers offer storage possibilites and have beautiful period brass pulls and brass escutcheons that appear to be original to the piece.
