INSPIRED BY THE FAIRYTALE OF THE FRENCH CHARLES PEROULT

Hop o´My Thumb ( Le Petit Poucet ) is the youngest of seven children in a poor woodcutter´s family. His greater wisdom compensates for his smallness of size. When the children are abandoned by their parents he finds a variety of means to save his life and the lives of his brother. After being threatened and pursued by a giant, Poucet steals the magic " seven-league boots " from the sleeping giant.

PERL, KARL (1876 - 1965) an Austrian sculptor and engraver was born in Liezen ( a city in the Austrian state of Steiermark) on March, 1876. The majority of Perl´s sculptures are relatively small (under 2 feet). He studied under Hellmar, Zumbusch and Kundmann and worked in Vienna as a sculptor of figures, busts, bas-reliefs as well as medals and medallions. Among others, he produced a series of small plaques depicting scenes from popular folk and fairy tales.
