World Furniture Treasures by Lester Margon published by Reinhold Publishing ______1954______ Book is in 2 parts: Part 1 has 108 black and white photos of furniture, architecture, some fabric and paintings; this section of 81 pages is smooth, very light ivory paper. Phottos are good, some are a bit dark in spots, all are captioned. Part 2 has 51 photos of furniture with very good, almost appearing as the original, drawings on facing pages, all drawings are by Lester Margon. This section has 95 pages which are deeper ivory than Part 1 and although good paper stock it is not as slick feeling as Part 1. There is a 3-page index of photo numbers and page numbers in this 186-page book. Book measures 8.25x10.5. Pages are tight at binding, clean; there is a storage odor when pages are opened. New Furniture Design Tendencies Part 2 is Measured Drawings. Dust jacket with 4 photos and large, deep red area with title on front. Front of jacket has turned deep ivory from age, back cover is lighter in color. Quite a bit of scuffing, scratches, some areas that may be surface rubbing against another color making areas of grey-tone on the ivory. Much wear at top back edge of jacket with tears, creases, nicks, some small pieces gone. Back of jacket also shows some soiling, and age tanning along with surface rubbing. Spine ends nicked and worn, edges worn. Front of jacket at upper edge with small closed tears and surface creasing. Two-inch, narrow black streak on lower half of jacket, shows in photo. Covers are light brown with large red title on front and spine. Edges with slight wear, upper tips have soil at points, back upper tip showing 3 small creases, 1 next to point is heaviest. Spine ends slight wear and light soil at spine heel. There is a 1/2" wide band of slightly darker coloration at bottom edge of front cover, probably exposure tanning. Covers are tight at binding. |
