Up for auction is a beautiful early glass oil lamp.

Beautiful tall parlor or banquet oil lamp, very thick heavy glass bowl and stem, cased deep red ruby over clear glass, cuts to wandering floral pattern, brass connectors and base, center prism ring alternating fancy ruby and clear prisms. Very impressive, much nicer than the photos. Believe the lamp is of English manufacture, collar is in original patina with original plaster, made in England duplex burner is a clip in style, burner signed “Messengers No. 2 Patent Duplex” on the thumbwheel, has a lift gallery and shade ring, “Rd. No. 127410” on the gallery top, that relates to an English Registry number and dates it between 1887 – 1890. This is a very tall lamp, measures about 20” to the top of the burner, almost 7” across at the base. Great condition, no chips or cracks or stains on the glass bowl or stem, the bowl has not been drilled. I see a bubble on the inside of the bowl and can feel it is partially open at the surface, inside the bowl. A few nicks to the ends of the prisms, the burner has been electrified and works great. Just a beautiful Ruby Cut to clear lamp for collection, decoration, or use around the home!!
