High Noon is a classic story of a man who is torn between duty and love. Gary Cooper stars as Will Cain, a sheriff of a small town called Hadleyville in New Mexico, who has just gotten married to Amy played by Grace Kelly. Amy is a Quaker and in deference to her pacifist beliefs, Will is turning in his badge. But just as the newlyweds are preparing to leave town for a new life, Will learns that a criminal, Frank Miller, he put behind bars is being paroled and arriving in town on the 12 noon train for a showdown to revenge his incarceration. Tension fills the air as the anticipated battle draws closer. Amy begs Will to leave with her, but he knows he can't hide. He must stay and defend the town and his honor. Will finds himself alone in the battle as everyone in town, including his deputy sheriff Harvey Pell, played by Lloyd Bridges, have shunned him. Director Fred Zinnemann effectively uses clocks to convey the time ticking away towards the showdown. Cooper brilliantly plays his part for which he won his second Best Actor Oscar. Tex Ritter, John's father, sings the Oscar winning song, "Don't Forsake Me" which perfectly captures the essence of the film. High Noon is a great classic western.

THIS IS AN ORIGINAL VINTAGE MEXICAN LOBBY CARD.  IT IS NOT A REPRODUCTION.   THESE WERE ISSUED AT THE TIME OF THE FIRST RELEASE OF THE PICTURE FOR AUDIENCES IN MEXICO, USUALLY WITHIN ONE YEAR OF THE US RELEASE, AND ALMOST ALWAYS ON THICK STOCK PAPER. 

 THESE USUALLY HAVE ORIGINAL MEXICAN ART WORK AND GRAPHICS, DESIGNED ESPECIALLY FOR THIS FILM,  ALONG WITH A PHOTOGRAPHIC SCENE FROM THE MOVIE.  THE TITLE AND DESCRIPTIONS ARE USUALLY IN SPANISH, WITH THE NAMES OF THE STARS, PRODUCER, DIRECTOR AND FILM STUDIO PRINTED IN ENGLISH.  MANY HAVE THE ENGLISH FILM TITLE PRINTED BENEATH THE SPANISH TITLE IN SMALLER LETTERS.  THE MEXICAN LOBBY CARDS ARE WELL KNOWN FOR THEIR EXCELLENT ARTWORK AND QUALITY.

LOBBY CARDS WERE PLACED IN THE LOBBY OF THE THEATRE, USUALLY BEHIND GLASS, TO PROMOTE THE NEW FILM COMING NEXT WEEK.  EACH LOBBY CARD FEATURED A DIFFERENT DRAMATIC SCENE FROM THE FILM TO ENTICE THE VIEWER TO WANT TO RETURN FOR THIS FILM WHEN IT OPENED NEXT WEEK.
