Used book in VERY GOOD condition. Dust Jacket has minor edge/corner wear and a couple tiny tears along spine and 1 on bottom front edge. Nothing really major. It is a little aged in color but nothing too major. It is not price clipped and has the original $7.95 price on it. It is a Family Bookshelf Edition, published by Harper & Row. It is an assumed First Edition. The book has an all navy cloth board with gilt lettering, all in near perfect condition. No bumped corners or edge/shelf wear. The inside is in great shape also. No names, writing or marks. No torn, dog eared, missing or loose pages. Tight binding. Pages are all a creamy white color the same color as the background on the dust cover. The pages don't appear to be tanned. The book was translated from Russian by Paul Chavchavadze. The story of Only One Year began on Dec 19,1966, as Svetland left Russia for India, on a one month's visa, in the custody of an employee of the Soviet Ministry of Foreign Affairs, carrying the urn that held her husband's ashes. it ended on Dec 19,1967, in Princeton, New Jersey, as she and two American friends joined in a toast to her new life in freedom. That year of pain,discovery,turmoil, and new hope reached its climax in the decision to break completely with the world of Communism, to turn her back on her country, her children, her friends, and face the unknown world.
