Rare No 1 Folding Pocket Kodak Pull Out Front 1899 1905
Description:
An interesting find. An Eastman Kodak No. 1 Folding Pocket Kodak with the Pull Out Front, as opposed to the Bed Type. I'm finding a time frame of 1899 to 1905. There is a #23366 stamped on the metal back, but the serial # looks to be 3843, which is also stamped on the back, and the wood on the bottom of the camera. It's not the prettiest folder I've seen, but it may be the oldest. I thought about applying black shoe polish to the leather, but I'm not a restorer. The struts move smoothly. The shutter seems to work fine. The lens glass looks pretty good, until you open it up and look through it. Inside the metal back, someone has written "Use Agfa D6 or Eastman V116. The front moves in, and out easily. The bellows is in very nice condition. It's described as red, but it looks burgundy to me.
