This is a little masterpiece!  It is a magnificent mid 19th Century embossed and stippled dragon decorated terra cotta vase that is over-painted black. It has no chips or cracks. The detail on the dragon is amazing, especially since it has been achieved in relief. We can’t tell if the designs embossed on the shoulders of the vase are clouds through which he is flying or dragon generated smoke clouds. The vase measures 6 inches tall and 3 inches across the widest section. There is a beautiful incised design around the collar. Using a flashlight to illuminate inside the vase you can see the rings that were left behind by the potters’ tools.  What a wonderful treasure!  This outstanding old Japan dragon vase is offered with NO RESERVE and with the opportunity to Buy It Now.
