We shall miss this book, especially at Christmas! The book is, of course, none other than Grimm's Fairy Tales, superbly illustrated and decorated in colour and black-and-white by Arthur Rackham, this book is also very special as a Limited Signed Edition of 750 copies. We hope you will enjoy it. The illustrations to the book are very well known and much loved. We have endeavoured to include as many photographs of the charming colour plates and of the numerous, numerous black-and-white drawing and vignettes below. The book is profusely illustrated and decorated, a most entertaining, delightful volume. We hope it will bring you much enjoyment for the years to come! Book: GRIMM’S FAIRY TALES, or The Fairy Tales of The Brothers Grimm, illustrated by Arthur Rackham. One of a limited edition of 750 copies, signed by Arthur Rackham on the limitation page. Publisher: Constable & Company, London, 1909. Forty full colour tipped-in illustrations, all under red-captioned tissues, and numerous black and white drawings, silhouettes and vignettes by Arthur Rackham, this volume is profusely illustrated and decorated. The text and black and white illustrations are on English hand-made paper, which is textured and thick, similar to Arches or Fabriano. Impressive, thick quarto. Top Edge Gilt (TEG), others uncut. Facsimile binding in maroon cloth following the original 1909 design, with a gilt-decorated cover and spine. Book condition: Externally, excellent. Clean and tight. Top gilt edge bright. Gilt designs on the cover bright. Internally, also excellent. The exposed paper edges darkened and spotted as is typical due to shelf exposure over time - not detracting. The text pages and plate mounts clean and bright. Light typical folds and light typical warping to the tissue guard over the frontispiece and to some other tissues. One tissue attached in one spot to near gutter to the opposite page, which may be a small binder's fault, as sometimes happens. The tissues are mostly flat as shown. Some transferring of the black and white illustrations to adjacent text pages or tissues as is typical, due to the deep black inks used. This is typical and is noted on other copies of this edition and on most other early Heinemann and Hodder and Stoughton Limited Editions. All of the superbly entertaining and charming plates after Arthur Rackham's excellent watercolours are in fine condition without creases. No bookplates or inscriptions, or detracting marks.
