In the 1930s & 1940s there was no bigger star than Roy Rogers. His fame lasted decades longer than that, however. A hit television show in the 1950s, appearances and merchandising deals kept him in the spotlight right up until he passed away in 1998. The Roy Rogers Show, Vols. 1-6 6 DVD set collects 24 digitally-restored television episodes that originally aired between 1951 and 1957. "The King Of The Cowboys" is joined by wife Dale Evans and bumbling sidekick Pat Brady in his fight for law and order in the contemporary West. Roy's horse Trigger, dog Bullet and Pat's cantankerous jeep Nellybelle were all part of the cast based out of Roy's Double R Bar Ranch. The twenty four episodes include:
Episode One After years of searching, an old rancher finally finds gold on his property but a posse of greedy young thieves try to kill him and rob him of his fortune. Roy and company tide to his rescue intent on setting things straight.
Episode Two Roy Rogers and the boys arrive in town of Pine Hill to investigate a crime wave. The towns mayor, a legendary sheriff, seems oddly unaware of the surrounding mayhem. The king of the cowboys relies on his intuition and skill to seek the truth.
Episode Three A notorious murderer, Chuck Dillon, rides back into town to reunite with his naïve girlfriend, Thelma, but Roy and friends try to foil his plans and send him back to prison where he belongs. Chick is warned of Roys interference, but will stop at nothing to get his girl.
Episode Four A mans neighbors try to strong-arm him into selling his ranch after gold is discovered. When he refuses, they kidnap and attempt to kill him. The missing mans wife looks to Roy for help, but soon finds herself in grave danger.
Hard Luck Story Roy and Pat come to the aid of a rancher being strong-armed by agents of the Hard Luck Insurance Company. Suspicious of the companys true intentions, Roy begins an investigation on Hard Lucks seedy manager, Ben Pierson
Horse Crazy Outlaw Jud Harmons wild black stallion can outrun any posse. When harmons prized mustang disappears just before a big heist, he tricks Roy into helping him track down the horse.
