BY AWARD WINNING NATIVE AMERICAN ARTISTS: CORN MOQUINO
This beautiful black Santa Clara Pueblo pottery was created by world renown artist, Corn
Moquino. Corn Moquino is one of the original innovators of the sgraffito
technique at the Santa Clara Pueblo. The melon bowl measures
approximately 3" width diameter x just under 3.25" tall. The opening at the top measures about 2.5" width diameter and the base measures 1.75" diameter. The underside is signed with the artist's name and his
famous corn symbol. Corn fires his pieces outdoors as is traditional. He hand
coils his pieces using clay he gathers on the grounds of the pueblo in the time
honored Tesuque tradition. He uses natural minerals in various colors,
including hard-to-find yellows, greens, and blues, with which he paints the
etched imagery on his pots. This piece features an impressive stone polish. This elegant piece does not have any chips nor cracks.
