Johnson who was responsible for dispatching a Special Agent from the St. Louis Police Department to hunt down the James Gang in September 1874.  The Special Agent and his posse of lawmen actually did catch up to the Gang on a rural road in Ray County, Missouri but the gang escaped after a short gunfight on horseback. AND then Mr. Johnson was actually Frank James' lead attorney who represented him at his trial in 1883 for the Winston robbery!! Amazing!
