Chinese Porcelain c.1822 Shipwreck Plate: Tek Sing!

Very few people know that the most important antique shipwreck ever discovered was the Tek Sing (True Star) sunk because of captain error while enroute from Amoy in Southern China to jakarta, Indonesia.   This huge ship weighing over 1000 tons and measuring over 165 feet sunk in the South China sea in 1822 ; it was loaded with with a huge uantity of high quality of Chinese porcelain destined for eastern and European markets, and also carried some 2000 human cargo. The ship was huge beyond belief for its time; 1800 of these passengers on board died and the entire cargo was lost.

The wreck lay untouched on the ocean floor for 178 years until its rediscovery in 1999 when it was salvaged. Its porcelain cargo wasn cleaned, conserved and auctioned in 2000. All of the pieces sold here have the original nagel Auction sticker confirming their legimacy and provenance.  Having such well-provenanced legitimate ceramics constitute a fantastic credit crunch proof investment in today's iffy financial climate. This artifact is fully guaranteed to be legitimate and genuine as described. It comes with a copy of the original COA which I received when I purchased it. Marine encrustations are still clearly visable-a testament to the authenticity of this piece. This beautiful porcelain plate is painted blue-cream over a cream glazed surface. Note the artistic treatment given to the stylizd plant/tree root system portrayed on the plate.
