"Shut Up And Kiss Me" was also nominated for Best Country Song. With STONES IN THE ROAD, Mary-Chapin Carpenter secures her title as country music's most successful anomaly. The former Ivy-League folkie has succeeded in creating a hit album that has virtually none of the attributes generally accepted as "country" music. And that is good news for both Mary-Chapin and country music; their audience has expanded beyond Opryland. From the flowing piano intro on "Why Walk When You Can Fly" to Carpenter's dramatic cabaret/pop reading of "Where Time Stands Still," the listener journeys through a multi-genre world of loss, love, discovery, and eventual triumph. Her vocals are deceptively tough, rich, and passionate, especially in "House Of Cards" and "Last Word." More deeply reflective than previous albums, STONES still has fun. "Shut Up And Kiss Me" is a playful and sexy romp, with hooks galore. The album's centerpiece, "John Doe No. 24," a contemplative ballad based on a nameless mute's obituary, is framed by Branford Marsalis' ethereal saxophone. The razor-sharp insights of Mary-Chapin are plentiful throughout this literate album which not only expands the boundaries of country music, it explodes them into glittery STONES IN THE ROAD. | |

I love music and hope you enjoy a great album as much as I do! I normally sell books and don't have many CD's. These CD's are all from my personal collection. Most of the following information is in reference to my book policy. This is a very long and detailed description of my policies. Every item on this page is a direct result of a prior experience and I have taken the time to point it out for a reason. I try to do everything in my power to make sure that problems are avoided but there are things that are not in my power. Please understand I am selling these books as a part time hobby and am mainly a one person operation. (my mom helps a little bit) For example, I have had people send me a note claiming they have ordered items from other sellers that did not take as long for delivery. Media mail and location are two major factors in shipment time. I am in Boston on the east coast, a book shipped via media mail to San Francisco cross country is going to take longer than if it was going to New York. I DO NOT ADVERTISE FAST SHIPMENT. I SHIP MEDIA MAIL AND THAT CAN BE SLOW. THE POST OFFICE DOES NOT ALWAYS SCAN MEDIA MAIL ITEMS SO TRACKING MAY NOT BE AVAILABLE. Many people have emailed me questions regarding my listings. Most questions are regarding the information that is listed below. I try to respond to questions within one business day. I try to be as upfront as possible regarding the condition of the CD's that I list. All CD'S are in GOOD condition unless noted at the top of this section. I upload a photo every CD, Ebay also puts a stock photo up and sometimes that photo is different from the actual CD. The one for sale is the one that has a link to view a larger picture. If you have a feedback rating less than 5. I reserve the right to cancel your bid!!!! Do not bid over another bidder if you have a low feedback score. Paypal Only On occasion books have been double listed in the store inventory. If you happen to purchase an item that I don't have I will automatically process a refund. All Items are mailed media mail usually within three business days from payment. Media Mail can take up to six weeks for delivery. Most books are delivered between 2 and 9 business days after shipment. If the post mark is within the three business day window then your problem is with the post office not with me. I have had items lost in the mail. Refunds will only be available for buyers who purchase shipping insurance. I strongly encourage you to purchase shipping insurance. In order to keep my shipping costs low I am unable to give refunds for items that are lost in the mail if the insurance has not been purchased. I use catalog manila clasp envelopes secured with tape. 99% of the time items arrive in the condition they were mailed in. 1% of the time they can be damaged during the shipping process. Please keep this in mind. I try to keep my costs down to pass the savings along to buyers. I am more than happy to charge you more for shipping if you prefer different packaging. Please email me for a price. Shipping discount for U.S. Delivery is $3.50 for the 1st item $1 each additional item. To receive this discount you need to pay for all items at the same time! If you are bidding on a item that has an auction ending later than other books PLEASE WAIT TO PAY!! I will send a combined invoice that will have the shipping discount.
