These Engines were commonly know as the "RDC", They were motorized units generally operated in rural areas where ridership and parcel/mail transport were too low for regular passenger train service. Capable of being operated by a motorman from either end of the car, these units could be used independently or combined to create a powered and two or three unpowered car consist. RDC-1 was strickly passenger-oriented, containing 90 coach seats. RDC-2 contained 71 seats and a separate baggage area. RDC-3 combined a RPO with a baggage compartment and 49 seats. RDC-4 was a self-contained railway Post Office Experess Car. This auction is for a Santa Fe Dummy unpowered RDC-3 that combined a RPO with a baggage compartment and 49 seats.  It comes with couplers and is complete.
