 Vintage antique all original, untouched Shaker community made "for the world" sewing box. This is an item for the knowledgeable collector who has seen many sewing boxes and knows the true rarity to find one in this condition. It is rosewood with the typical diamond escutcheon-this one is ivory. It has an inlaid wood design on the lid-that area is slightly elevated and contains a linear age crack away from the design in the upper left about 3 inches long-that is the only "defect" in this piece and it does not distract from its appearance.. The designed paper inside, the velvet covered parts and the removable shelf with its removable parts and mirror are about as pristine as one can find. Find one better!!
