In this program, we travel to southern France and take a look at the steam locomotives still in operation today. From the Brittany Peninsular along the Channel Coast to Paris and Picardy, we see some fine examples of French steam, such as the Golden Arrow.
After visiting a rail terminal in Dieppe that serves the main port, we move on the extensive network of city trams in Brussels before experiencing the combination of steam, electric and diesel used for heavy industry in Luxembourg. E-Class locomotives are seen in Denmark, as well as pre-war locomotives in Italy and three different types of gauge are on offer in Greece. We then travel to Turkey before ending our journey in Portugal.
