Album notes
Originally released on Capitol (2841) in January, 1968. 1967 was a good year for rock & roll--but it was also a good time for country music. Buck's Bakersfield sound (undiluted honky-tonk, with the accent on crisp twang and a snappy beat) kept going, unaffected by trends in rock or Nashville-styled country. He distills the feeling of Yearning beautifully in "Where Does the Good Times Go" and gives the blues (and an mistreating lover) the heave-ho with the tart "I'm Gonna Live It Up." Not the best Buck available--check out HOT DOG (Capitol) or I DON'T CARE (Sundazed), but for fans of Buck and/or this style, IT TAKES... is a worthwhile investment.
