Movie description
Containing one of the most instantly recognizable intro sequences to a TV show ("Look up in the sky! It's a bird! It's a plane! It's Superman!"), THE ADVENTURES OF SUPERMAN was the first attempt to bring the comic book character to television screens. This first season originally aired in 1952, and established great cinematic characters such as Lois Lane (Phyllis Coates), Jimmy Olsen (Jack Larson), and of course Clark Kent (George Reeves) himself. By day Kent attempts to live an anonymous existence as a reporter for the Daily Planet, but when trouble comes calling, he transforms into Superman, the last survivor from the planet Krypton. The first six seasons of the show are included on this release.

Season One

Maxwell (who also produced the radio version) and Bernard Luber (a veteran of Hollywood serials), each First Season episode screens like a classic crime movie, where danger and death lurk in the shadows. Working with some of the industry's best character actors, George Reeves plays the Man Of Steel with a genuineness that captivates viewers of all ages. Season Two

Sleep tight, Metropolis. No matter what trouble comes your way, a powerful hero will protect you. And trouble does come - big trouble: a plummeting asteroid...a terrorist targeting transit systems...deadly radiation...mad scientists...a criminal clown. But none is a match for the Man Of Steel.

George Reeves returns to put on the hero's cape (and, when necessary, the customary eyewear of a mild-mannered reporter) for the steel-bending, bullet-speeding, tall-building-leaping excitement of 26 Season Two episodes. Noel Neill joins the series as Lois Lane, the Daily Planet reporter who sometimes suspects that maybe - just maybe - Clark Kent isn't who he says he is. Powerful fun!

Bullets bounce off him. Criminal masterminds can't outfox him. Even the destructive gizmos dreamed up by mad scientists can't blast him into atoms. Superman has the strength and courage to defeat all foes. And now for the first time in the classic TV series Adventures of Superman, the Man Of Steel's exciting flights, fights and super heroics are presented in color.

George Reeves returns as Superman (aka Clark Kent) in 26 episodes comprising Seasons 3 and 4 of the program that ran six seasons total. This time his exploits take him to a stuffy European monarchy, a remote desert isle and even a cave in the year 50,000 B.C. Among the villains he faces are invisible thieves, Kryptonite-toting thugs and, yes, even scurvy-dog pirates. Arrrr, this is mighty adventure!

Seasons Five & Six

Crime doesn't pay. Not when Superman is around. Yet that won't stop Metropolis miscreants feverishly bent on malevolent misdeeds. A deadly Kryptonite ray gun, knights in armor, anti-memory vapor, a gizmo that zaps bad guys across phone lines, even a mind-reading burro who taps out responses (and who has suspicions about Clark Kent!) - all are called into futile service to thwart the Man of Steel.

"You can set your watch on it," Jimmy Olsen says about Superman always showing up in the nick of time. The good news for series fans is that he shows up again and again in these 26 flights of fantasy that complete the six-season Adventures of Superman.
