Formerly known as Diddy Kong Pilot. The game name changed when THQ signed on to publish Rareware titles in August 2003. The bear takes to the air! They should put that one on the box. Yes, in the opening stretches of 2005, the Game Boy Advance gets its second dose of Banjo action with the high-flying, all-star race spectacular that is Banjo Pilot. With a motley assortment of contestants and courses hand-picked from the N64 and GBA adventures, the recognition factor is high, but powering a triumphant Klungo past Gruntilda way up in the air over Treasure Trove Cove is an experience we very much doubt you've had before in the Banjo universe. Single-player gameplay offerings include the full Grand Prix mode, Jiggy Challenge, plus Time Trial and the single-track instant fix of Quickrace. In multiplayer, you can link GBA systems to engage in aerial competition with (or against) up to three friends.
Special Features
Play BANJO PILOT while enjoying a comically satisfying soundtrack and intermittent voice samples from the game's array of quirky characters. The track races are three laps long and have lots of speed enhancing rings that earn the player extra speed bursts and weapon power ups for an advantage over other racers. The planes are equipped with bullets, but the weapon power ups will cause the most damage. Some of the notable power ups include the ability to launch a flying saucer that brings down the lead racer and drop frozen eggs that other contestants can crash into. Secrets and extras from Cheato, Guntilda's spell book, can be purchased with enough points. The five modes are Grand Prix, Time Trial, Jiggy Challenge, Champion Challenge, and Quickrace. Grand Prix is the game's primary mode and consists of four races beginning with the Honeycomb Cup and then proceeding to the Gold Cup. Time Trial mode is more of a practice track to race against the clock for the best lap time. Jiggy Challenge is a race against a mole named Bottles where six jigsaw pieces dispersed around the track need to be collected in addition to winning the race. Finishing the Grand Prix mode opens the Champion Challenge to battle against the current champion.
