This is almost the end of a lovely collection of about 40 hand fans.  The owner is Mrs. Anita Palmer long time Fan Association of North America member. This is a varied and unusual collection of fans and memorabilia.  

 

This auction is for a beautiful Oriental, red lacquered fan box.  The top is grandly hand painted with birds and flowers, with amazing shading, colors, and skill.  The sides are a deep brown, the inside black.  There is an interesting emblem at the key hole...no there is no key.  All the hinges work well.  The age, perhaps 1800s.  The condition, excellent.
