This is almost the end of a lovely collection of about 40 hand fans.  The owner is Mrs. Anita Palmer long time Fan Association of North America member. This is a varied and unusual collection of fans and memorabilia.  

 

This auction is for a beautiful Oriental, red lacquered fan box.  It is a very long 16" X 2" high X 2 1/2" in width.  The inside is a stunning red silk. Oriental characters decorate the top. I need help from my friends to tell me if they are Chinese or Japanese and to decipher them.  I'm going with Chinese. All the brass hinges work well.  The age, perhaps 1800s.  The condition, excellent.
