THE BACKGAMMON BOOK” by Oswald Jacoby and John Crawford, is a truly unique book. First published in 1970 in the USA, this is the 1973 reprint and COMES COMPLETE WITH ITS ORIGINAL DUST JACKET!

In LARGE FORMAT HARDBACK, this book is now OUT OF PRINT and becoming increasingly RARE and sought after. Indeed, this book has become a CLASSIC work on it’s subject being described by the NEW YORK POST as “The Bible of the Game”.

Backgammon is a great game - easy to learn, fast, exciting, a perfect blend of chance and skill. It must possess remarkable qualities to have lasted for three thousand years.

This superb book comprises a complete, step-by-step guide on how to play backgammon for love or money -and win.

Written by two world champions and illustrated with almost 100 large, precise diagrams, this essential guide ranges from the crucial opening moves to the finer points of the middle and end games.

Simple, clear instructions and authoritative analyses will entice the beginner and benefit the expert.

In addition to probability tables, etiquette and the official rules of the International Backgammon Association, there are chapters on the history of the game, how to run a tournament and how to play chouette (backgammon for more than two people) plus a useful glossary.

The informative text is illustrated with diagrams on nearly every page, with each diagram having it’s own detailed explanation of the tactical point which the authors wish to make.

The book is in overall VERY GOOD CONDITION.

The dust jacket is complete and is NOT PRICE CLIPPED;   however it does show light signs of shelfwear, creasing and rubbing to the extremities. Whilst there are NO LOSSES, there are a couple of small closed tears to the top of the spine which have been neatly repaired. The dust jacket remains BRIGHT and ATTRACTIVE (see photo).

The red and black boards and spine (the front boards having a large vignette of a backgammon board) are in SUPERB CONDITION. They are CLEAN AND UNMARKED  and only show the merest signs of shelf wear. The boards and spine are PERFECTLY ATTACHED to each other and to the book itself.

Internally, the book is in LOVELY CONDITION.  There are NO INSCRIPTIONS OR MARKINGS WHATSOEVER. The pages are all present and correct. There are NO SIGNS OF SPOTTING OR YELLOWING and the book is still VERY TIGHTLY BOUND.

HIGHLY ATTRACTIVE, this INCREASINGLY RARE book is offered with NO RESERVE. This is a wonderful opportunity to add this book to your collection at a sensible price. Dont miss it!

Payment in £ Sterling only. UK buyers to pay by Paypal, Postal Order, Cheque or Bankers Draft (UK banks only). Overseas buyers to pay by Paypal only. As usual, buyers to pay postage, packing and handling (PPH). UK PPH will be £3.85. Overseas postage to be confirmed.
