Vintage GlassTop Wood Frame Table Top Display Case

Here's the second of two vintage display cases we'll be listing this week. This one is the larger and slightly taller of the two. It is the type of display case sometimes used atop the counter at the country store for a variety of items,,,items that may be a little too valuable to let customers handle without assistance. The case is nicely made with glass top and finger jointed wood frame. My guess is this is from the 50's or perhaps early 60's. The case is designed with latch hardware on the counter side so the clerk could leave the latched when taking care of customers elsewhere in the store. More recently this had been used in an antique shop for displaying small valuable antique pieces. Lots of times we see cases like this at antique shows, flea markets, etc.  The blue felt is just a piece of felt that was in the box, nothing special and probably should be replaced. The glass is in good shape on this case, little in the way of surface scratches. We do note in two of our pictures that when the case was made the maker trimmed the glass at the corners. This means there is a little showing of these clipped edges if one looks very closely into the deepest part of the corner. Not an issues but we felt it should be mentioned. The case shows slight signs of age and use as one would expect. It is about about 21 inches long, 14.5 inches deep and 5.5 inches tall. That's about it. The pictures should be helpful to those having interest. We'll start this vintage glass top display case or store counter display case low so enjoy the auction. When packed this will weigh about 9.75 lbs. so we'll use USPS Parcel Post service as the lowest cost postal alternative to the buyer. We have no packing or handling charge.
