What is Thai Silk?
Thai silk is hand-loomed from silkworm’s cocoon. It is the least allergenic of all natural fibers. Several strands of thread are used to weave into fabric, recognized by 2 ply, 4 ply, or 6 ply. Silk has a reputation of being the most luxurious of all natural fibers.
Fine Quality Thai Silk:     

(1) Visual
Thai silk is recognized by its pure, natural sheen and luster. A lower grade silk is pale white in color, attributed to bleaching and chemicals in production. It lacks the natural quality.  

(2) Touch
Thai silk is soft, smooth, and has an excellent elongation (elastic recovery). An inferior silk feels course and uneven, due to fragments of damaged cocoons and waste filaments.

(3) Smell
Silk with foul, oily smell is inferior in quality

(4) Flexibility and Elastic Recovery

Grade A Thai silks have more flexibility and superior elastic recovery.

Care for Silk:  Dry clean or hand wash with mild soap in cold/warm water and hang dry.  Medium heat iron.
